We are seeking an experienced Unreal Supervisor for our Toronto studio to lead the successful delivery of projects leveraging our studio's Unreal Engine Pipeline.

Role: Unreal Supervisor

Oversee projects using the studio’s Unreal Engine Pipeline, effectively optimizing it based on the project's needs and overseeing its successful implementation. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Unreal Engine, a strong technical background, and proven leadership abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Pipeline Management:

  • Develop and optimize Unreal Engine pipelines for the studio.
  • Ensure seamless integration of Unreal Engine workflows with existing production pipelines.
  • Collaborate with the pipeline team to develop and implement new tools and processes.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor the CG team, including internal staff and external partners on the Unreal Engine pipeline.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members concerning Unreal Engine pipelines and how it fits into the overall production.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the production team to ensure project goals and deadlines are met.
  • Facilitate effective communication between all stakeholders to ensure clarity on the use of Unreal Engine and how it may impact various departments.

Technical Direction:

  • Define and implement best practices for Unreal Engine asset creation and shot production.
  • Identify and resolve technical bottlenecks in the Unreal Engine workflow.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest Unreal Engine developments and industry trends.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure all Unreal Engine outputs meet the highest creative and technical standards.
  • Conduct regular reviews and provide feedback to the team to maintain quality and consistency.

Training and Support:

  • Be available to assist in training team members on Unreal Engine workflows and best practices.
  • Provide ongoing support and mentorship to ensure continuous improvement and skill development.

Key Requirements:

Knowledge:

  • In-depth understanding of Unreal Engine pipelines and workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of CG animation, modelling, rigging, lighting, rendering, and visual FX.

Experience:

  • Proven experience as an Unreal Engine Supervisor or similar role (e.g., CG Supervisor) on long-format projects or feature films.
  • Experience in supervising an Unreal Engine project.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple productions simultaneously.
  • Experience in leading and mentoring a team.

Technical Skills:

  • Expert proficiency in Unreal Engine.
  • Strong technical expertise in related software such as Photoshop, Substance Painter, and Maya.
  • Proficiency in asset tracking software, e.g., Autodesk’s Shotgun.
  • Familiarity with ‘RV’ media player.
  • Experience in game engine production and real-time rendering.
  • Familiarity with the latest features and advancements in Unreal Engine 5.5.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Compensation & Benefits: The salary range for this role is $95,000 – $110,000 per year. We consider several factors in determining salary offers including experience, skills, qualifications, and education. Eligibility: Applicants need to be legally eligible to work in Canada and have Ontario residency.
