Server Engineer
Design, implement, and maintain server-side systems supporting non-gameplay and live service features such as custom games, player grouping, social systems, highlights, and Battle.net integration.
Support and evolve live service infrastructure with a focus on reliability, performance, scalability, and uptime.
Design and optimize distributed systems with strong client/server and networking considerations.
Debug and resolve complex issues in live production environments.
Partner closely with designers, artists, client engineers, and other server engineers to take features from concept through release.
Contribute to technical direction through system design discussions, architecture reviews, and code reviews.
Mentor and support the growth of less-experienced engineers through guidance and knowledge sharing.
Continuously improve workflows, tools, and technical standards to support long-term service health.
Minimum Requirements:
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on server or backend development.
- Experience shipping at least one AAA title as a server engineer.
- Strong C/C++ expertise in networked or server environments.
- Extensive experience with networking, client/server communication, and distributed systems.
- Proven experience supporting live services in production environments.
- Solid understanding of server and network security considerations.
- Experience working in Linux/Unix environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills with end-to-end ownership of features.
- Comfortable collaborating across disciplines with excellent written and verbal communication skills, in both English and Korean.
- Self-motivated, accountable, and able to work independently within a collaborative team.
Bonus Points:
- Experience with transaction processing systems.
- Experience with relational or NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with DevOps-oriented workflows and live service operations.
- Previous experience mentoring or coaching software engineers.
- Familiarity with Overwatch and enthusiasm for contributing to the ongoing evolution of the game.
Work Arrangement: This role offers a flexible hybrid work week, with a mix of remote and on-site days, based out of our Seoul studio. Candidates may also choose to work on-site full-time if preferred.
