About the Role

At Brown Bag Films, our motto is simple: “We Love Animation™.” And we mean it - we put our artists at the heart of everything we do. As one of the most creatively driven animation studios, we are passionate about creating high-quality, engaging content for kids and families everywhere.

We are currently looking for a Senior FX Artist to join our talented team here at our Dublin studio. The successful candidate will create FX assets based on the visual and narrative requirements from the Art Director and episodic director while working within the technical specifications of the show. The successful candidate will also coach and develop the work of other FX Artists in the team.

This is a Fixed-Term, 12 month contract based in Dublin.

Please note that our studio operates on a hybrid model, with a minimum of two days per week required in the studio.

The successful candidate must have the right to work in Ireland for the duration of the contract.

Responsibilities:

  • Completion of FX assets and shots within the agreed time allowed.

  • Proactively problem solving; creating the IT and pipeline tickets to address any technical problems for the department.

  • Logging time into time logging software daily.

  • Contributing to best practices and pipeline within the studio.

  • Reviewing own assets and shots and that of the FX team (internal and overseas) at dailies with the FX lead and the production team.

  • Collaborating in animatic reviews.

  • Conducting Technical approvals on FX assets and shots from internal and overseas artists.

  • Advising in casting of resources.

  • Contributing to the development of tools and workflows.

  • Coaching and training of other team members.

Knowledge:

  • Thorough understanding of creating FX assets and FX shots.

Experience:

  • Creating reusable asset libraries.

  • Look development.

Technical Skills:

  • Understanding of lighting, composition and animation timing.

  • Good studio practice.
