About the Role

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 3D artistic rigging and animation skills for various assets throughout Path of Exile.
  • Develop and maintain Python‑based tools, scripts, and Maya API plugins to automate workflows and enhance the efficiency of the rigging and animation departments.
  • Use artistic and technical skills to rig and modify digital characters, props and sets, maintaining a consistent aesthetic across your work.
  • Develop robust, modular rigging frameworks and standards that support a wide range of complex character types and creatures.
  • Create high‑quality work using a variety of software programs and ensure that technical integrity is maintained and followed for each output.
  • Be aware of project/task schedules and be capable of delivering work to deadlines.
  • Take direction from the rigging leads and engage with producers and other departments to address rigging‑related needs.
  • Provide high‑level technical guidance to junior and mid‑level artists, including conducting technical reviews and overseeing the quality of assets delivered by external outsourcing partners.
  • Attend regular team meetings, providing updated status and progress of your deliverables.

Requirements:

  • 5 years of experience in rigging for games and media or a Bachelor’s degree in 3D Animation, Visual Effects, Technical Art, or a similar qualification.
  • Advanced knowledge of rigging using Maya rigging tools.
  • Ability to create clear, non‑destructive, user‑friendly rigs.
  • Knowledge of proper anatomy and body mechanics.
  • Good general knowledge of Maya regarding modelling and texturing.
  • At least one year of character rigging experience in a professional studio.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Strong self‑management, positive attitude, and ability to receive and provide constructive feedback.
  • Portfolio and/or reel demonstrating relevant skills (required).
  • Must be willing to complete a rigging test if requested.

Nice‑to‑have:

  • An avid gamer with an understanding of Path of Exile.
