Lead 3D Artist Props for Disney Dreamlight Valley — Gameloft Montreal
About the role
Disney Dreamlight Valley is a hybrid life-sim/adventure game already available across multiple platforms, featuring quests, exploration, and activities starring Disney and Pixar friends. This production is developed entirely by Gameloft Montreal.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the internal 3D Props team, including task planning, workload distribution, time tracking, and day-to-day support
- Drive team performance and growth through regular feedback, performance evaluations, and outlining individual development and training plans
- Create clear, production-ready 3D prop briefs (visual references, style guidelines, asset breakdowns, technical specifications) and align expectations with internal and external stakeholders
- Oversee external outsourcing and co-development teams, acting as the main point of contact and ensuring alignment with artistic direction, quality standards, and production timelines
- Review outsourced assets and provide clear, actionable feedback through structured reviews, paintovers, and regular syncs, ensuring consistent quality and approval standards
- Collaborate with the Art Director to validate and approve assets for integration, ensuring they meet artistic, technical, and performance requirements
- Partner with other 3D Leads (Environment, Characters, Tech Art) and cross-functional teams (Design, Monetization, Narrative) to ensure consistency and alignment with gameplay and content needs
- Ensure seamless engine integration of assets by validating scale, pivots, LODs, shaders, and performance constraints
- Own asset tracking and follow-up workflows (Jira, Basecamp), ensuring visibility on deliverables, milestones, and feedback loops
- Contribute to the continuous improvement and scalability of the 3D outsourcing pipeline, including onboarding and supporting external partners
Requirements:
- Strong experience creating high-quality 3D props, with a focus on stylized art and clear, appealing visual design
- Ability to translate 2D concepts or references into polished 3D assets that align with a cohesive artistic vision
- Proven experience leading or managing a team, including coaching, performance management, and career development
- Experience working with and overseeing outsourcing vendors or co-development teams, with a strong focus on quality control
- Solid understanding of real-time production constraints, including optimization, LODs, UVs, and material setups
- Experience reviewing 3D assets and delivering clear, structured, and constructive feedback
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple workflows and stakeholders across distributed teams
- Familiarity with industry-standard tools such as Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, ZBrush, Substance 3D Painter/Designer, and game engines (e.g., Unity)
- Experience with production tracking and version control tools such as Jira, Basecamp, Git, or SVN
- Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and ensure timely delivery of high-quality assets
- Strong understanding of stylized pipelines and sensitivity to brand-driven content within globally recognized Disney and Pixar worlds
