About the Role

Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of level design from initial concept to final implementation, ensuring a smooth and engaging player experience aligned with the core gameplay vision.
  • Design, build, and iterate high-quality level layouts tailored for FPS / action gameplay, with a strong focus on flow, pacing, and combat scenarios.
  • Craft layouts that support intense combat encounters, smart AI pathing, and player agency in fast-paced environments.
  • Implement player guidance systems to ensure intuitive navigation even during chaotic action sequences.
  • Use terrain, structures, and verticality to create strategic opportunities and diverse tactical options for players.
  • Integrate occlusion, cover systems, line of sight control, and funneling techniques to enhance gameplay rhythm and technical performance.
  • Place and tune gameplay elements such as AI, triggers, objectives, pickups, and interactive set-pieces.
  • Iterate based on frequent playtesting and telemetry to refine pacing, difficulty, and player flow.
  • Collaborate closely with art, tech, and narrative teams to ensure a cohesive experience across all level elements.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Level Designer and preferably at least one shipped FPS or action title.
  • Deep understanding of core level design principles: flow, pacing, sightlines, player navigation, and encounter staging.
  • Expertise with modern level design toolsets (e.g. Unreal Engine 5)
  • Strong spatial thinking, with the ability to translate gameplay goals into effective 3D layouts.
  • Solid grasp of combat dynamics, arena design, and player motivation in high-pressure environments.
  • Familiarity with best practices in visual language, traversal readability, and combat readability.
  • Ability to iterate quickly, balancing player challenge, exploration, and reward pacing.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills — especially when working across disciplines.
  • Experienced in mentoring junior designers and contributing to level design guidelines and documentation.
