About the Role

Head of HR (Global) at Glitch Productions in Remote

About us: We are a creative entertainment company based in Sydney. We make IP-driven products that fans love — spanning animation, consumer products, supply chain, publishing, games and licensing. We have around 250 people across multiple divisions, each doing genuinely different work, and we are growing. With multiple active and upcoming series, tens of millions of views per release, and a rapidly growing audience base, Glitch operates at the intersection of storytelling, digital media, and creator-led entertainment.

About the role: As our business continues to grow in scope, reach, and territories, our team members continue to grow as well. As such, we are looking for an experienced Head of HR to lead the HR function, providing operational, financial, and strategic leadership. Reporting directly into the COO, this role owns the end-to-end HR function, providing a strong partnership to the executive and leadership teams that will ensure they have the resources they need to succeed. The role will see you leading improvements to our org structure through data-backed headcount gap analyses and modern managerial frameworks applicable to our company, create and refine recruitment systems across the diverse and specific requirements of our different business functions, drive the automation and streamlining of our onboarding and employee lifecycle processes to promote scalability, and work cross-functionally to improve general employee wellbeing, engagement, diversity, and remuneration programs.

This is a highly hands-on role in a rapidly growing company currently in a transitional state: balancing both new commercial interests, as well as our creative and artistic roots. This is a prime opportunity to help shape the culture and organisational make-up of one of the fastest rising independent studios in the entire arts industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Organisational Structure Ownership

  • Analysing and improving company organisational structure to ensure teams are structurally set up for success.
  • Working with other department heads, managers, and the executive teams to create clear management structures and reporting lines that promote efficient communication, reviews, and leadership.
  • Researching, planning, and proposing the headcount requirements and team structures for newly proposed business units and ensuring they align with existing company infrastructure.
  • Formalising headcount gap request processes across all of our differing business units to align with financial, strategic, and creative goals.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to executive team for the implementation of new headcount and org structure plans, including associated risks, rewards, and implementation requirements.

Recruitment

  • Planning and leading the implementation of scalable recruitment systems to meet the needs of our rapidly growing business, including: hiring from niche and highly specialised talent pools, being able to recruit temporary employees with rapid turnaround, and evaluation of applications in the highly subjective arts industry.
  • Advising executive team on bespoke screening methods for high-level management hires to ensure key placements have the highest chance of success in their roles.
  • Formalising and updating salary offers and employment packages to remain competitively viable within our industry, while remaining within the financial goals of the business.
  • Personally sourcing and negotiating high-level management talent, balancing both the unique strategic plans and functions of Glitch, as well as our specific values and company culture.

Policy and Compliance

  • Implementing and updating policies and processes with a global mindset that can accommodate local labour laws and compliance.
  • Optimising our people and talent management strategy for international cooperation and our global workforce.
  • Conducting audits to identify gaps or vulnerabilities in current policy and compliance frameworks, and ensuring timely updates to reduce risk and improve business standing with governing bodies.
  • Implementing scalable frameworks to support migrating team members and the continued residency of VISA-holding employees.

Employee Wellbeing, Compensation, and Culture

  • Creating and implementing frameworks to facilitate timely reviews of employee remuneration packages and salary benchmarks, ensuring both industry competitiveness and employee value is recognised and rewarded.
  • Reviewing, improving, and approving employee wellbeing initiatives, and providing high-level and cross-functionality support for their implementations.
  • Identifying functions of the business that do not currently align with the company's core values, and implementing changes to fix those issues.
  • Facilitating clear and efficient communication and announcements across the entire company to maintain our “artistic studio” culture, but scaled to 200+ global employees.

Team Leadership

  • Providing dedicated leadership, training, and mentorship to HR managers and specialists, so they may in turn provide first-class support to their respective business units.
  • Providing support and advice to other Heads for their direct HR requirements, as well as communicating new HR initiatives for implementation into their specific business units.
  • Identifying and filling headcount and skill gaps within the HR department to ensure adequate support for the rest of the business both now and into the future.
  • Acting as a champion and role model of the company’s core values.

What we’re looking for:

  • Senior HR experience (HR Director, Head of HR, or equivalent).
  • Experience in media, entertainment, content production, gaming, digital platforms, or creative industries strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with fast-scaling companies, especially one with a younger-skewing workforce in a startup environment.
  • Ability to balance high level planning with hands-on execution - a “roll up your sleeves” mentality.
  • Experience working with international and remote workforces.
  • An understanding of when to use an existing model or industry framework, and when to innovate and experiment for something new.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Bonus Skills:

  • Experience with international labour laws, particularly those in the US.
  • Knowledge of animation and TV industry specific labour organisations such as SAG-AFTRA, TAG, etc
  • Experience working with talent and representation agencies.
  • Experience scaling teams across a wide variety of functions.
  • An understanding or experience with the arts, animation, gaming, and/or ‘internet nerd’ culture.
  • Engaging personality and willingness to learn.
  • Positive, go-getter attitude with a passion for making things.

What we offer:

  • Play a key role in shaping the financial future of a globally recognised independent studio.
  • A flexible work arrangement and schedule, with options for work from home and flexi-hours.
  • A casual and fun office environment where individual input is valued.
  • Regular work functions and free entry to conventions and events.
  • Close to public transport in the heart of Parramatta CBD.
  • Paid for gym memberships.
  • Regular company breakfasts/lunches.
  • A diverse team that values independent input and career development.
