Build Engineer
We are Grinding Gear Games, creators of the award-winning dark fantasy Action RPG Path of Exile. We're a world-class studio of more than 200 developers based in Auckland, New Zealand and we're currently expanding our system administration team.
We’re seeking an experienced Build Engineer to join our team at our office in Auckland, New Zealand.
Location: On-site in Henderson, Auckland, New Zealand Relocation assistance (for the right candidate, if needed) Full time position - 40 hours a week
The position includes the following duties:
- Maintain and improve automated build, packaging, and deployment pipelines for our game Path of Exile.
- Troubleshoot build failures
- Optimise the reliability, speed, and visibility of builds and any related tools
- Manage build infrastructure, including servers, scripts, and supporting services
- Maintain version control workflows and automation around branching, merging, and release management
- Work to strict deadlines and schedules, especially around releases and milestone delivery
Technologies used in this role - the more of these (or similar products) you have experience with, the better:
- Buildbot
- ZFS
- Subversion
- Microsoft and Linux distributions (Windows, Ubuntu, CentOS, etc)
- Python
- Bash
- C++
We are seeking someone with:
- At least 2 years of experience in a Build Engineer role OR a Bachelors Degree in IT or Software Engineering
- Strong scripting or programming ability in relevant languages such as Python, Bash, or C++
- Experience with continuous integration and build automation systems
- Experience with system diagnostics, troubleshooting server faults, and performance analysis
- Benchmarking, load testing, and performance profiling experience
- Continuous integration (e.g. Buildbot)
- Our game, Path of Exile
- Understanding of C++ applications and debugging tools
The interview process will include a basic scripting aptitude test.
